Notice To Patients About Scheduling:

Dr. Gholam Ali Miamee DDS is not accepting exam appointments, checkups or cleanings.

Dr. Gholam Ali Miamee DDS accepts only surgical procedures that require special attention due to some complications.

If the patient has a problem that may require Dr. Gholam Ali Miamee DDS then they must first have examination with our associate dentists.

After the associate dentist treatment plans a surgical procedure that requires special attention, the patient will then be offered an appointment with Dr. Gholam Ali Miamee DDS for consult and/or treatment.

Bad news is he can't do your checkup/cleaning anymore. Good news is he will be standing by if someone in your family needs a tough extraction or root canal one day.

Dr. Gholam Ali Miamee DDS (and all the dentists in our dental office) are only general dentists. You should always get second opinion or expert level care from specialist dentists such as endodontist, oral surgeon, periodontist, prosthodontist, orthodontist and/or pedodontist to get the highest level of care. Specialist dentists are far superior to general dentist in every way. They have amazing training that is much more advanced than a general dentist. Furthermore, they have experience that is light years ahead of any general dentist's experience with these complicated procedures. Thus, even though Dr. Gholam Ali Miamee DDS and other general dentists perform extractions, root canals and implants we can never hope to have the same level of expertise as a formally trained specialist dentist. Thus, we recommend Dr. Charles Fields Periodontist, Dr. Pedram Yahgmaie Oral Surgeon, Brian A. Mahler, DDS, Prosthodontist, Dr. Lan Tran Orthodontist, Dr. Alan Wonhee Lee, DDS, MS endodontist, etc.

7 Things You Need to Know About Invisalign Teen Before Starting Treatment

Published July 7th, 2024 by RTC Dental

Discover essential insights on Invisalign Teen with our blog '7 Things You Need to Know About Invisalign Teen Before Starting Treatment'.

Is your teen ready to straighten their smile with Invisalign Teen? It’s a big decision, and we’re here to help you get all the facts straight before jumping in!

1. What Makes Invisalign Teen Different

Invisalign Teen takes the innovative approach of traditional Invisalign aligners, tailor-made for teenagers. What sets it apart is the inclusion of compliance indicators that fade from blue to clear to help monitor how often the aligners are worn. This feature, combined with the ability to accommodate growing teeth, ensures that treatment adapts to the unique needs of teens. It’s a virtually invisible solution that allows your teen to straighten their teeth without metal wires or brackets, making it a preferred choice among youngsters who are self-conscious about their appearance.

2. The Importance of Compliance Indicators

Compliance indicators are one of the standout features of Invisalign Teen. These small blue dots on the aligners fade with wear, serving as a visual guide for teens and parents to ensure the aligners are being worn for the recommended 20 to 22 hours a day. Not only do they encourage responsibility and adherence to the treatment plan, but they also help in tracking progress during check-ups, making them a crucial element for successful outcomes.

3. Managing Expectations: Timeline and Results

The journey with Invisalign Teen is not a sprint; it’s a marathon. While every case is unique, most treatments last about the same time as traditional braces, around 12 to 18 months. However, the exact timeline can vary based on how consistently the aligners are worn and the complexity of the teeth misalignment. It’s vital to manage expectations and understand that while some changes are quickly noticeable, achieving that dream smile is a gradual process. Regular appointments play a key role in monitoring progress and making adjustments as needed.

4. The Impact on Daily Life and Activities

One of the most appealing aspects of Invisalign Teen is its minimal impact on daily life. The aligners are removable, which means no food restrictions – a significant bonus for hungry teens. Whether it’s sports, playing a musical instrument, or simply enjoying a slice of pizza, your teen won’t have to skip a beat. However, it’s crucial to remember that the aligners must be worn for the proper amount of time each day to be effective, balancing freedom with responsibility.

Speaking of daily activities, oral hygiene becomes even more manageable. Without brackets or wires, brushing and flossing are less of a hassle, reducing the risk of cavities and gum disease. Encouraging good hygiene habits is easier when your teen can clean their teeth and aligners separately, ensuring a healthy mouth throughout the treatment. It’s a win-win for both dental health and convenience.

5. Eating Habits and Oral Hygiene Adaptations

Aligning with the impact on daily activities, transitioning to Invisalign Teen doesn’t mean a complete overhaul of eating habits, but it does require some adaptations. Because the aligners are removed before eating, teens have the freedom to enjoy their favorite foods. The key is ensuring the aligners are out only for meals and snacks, and not forgotten afterwards. Maintaining oral hygiene is also paramount; brushing and flossing after each meal before reinserting the aligners prevent food particles from being trapped, reducing the risk of decay and maintaining fresh breath.

6. Handling Loss or Damage: What to Do

Despite best efforts, life happens, and aligners can get lost or damaged. The first step is not to panic. Invisalign Teen includes replacement aligners for such situations, ensuring the treatment stays on track. Promptly contacting your orthodontist is crucial; they can advise whether to move to the next set of aligners or if a replacement for the lost or damaged one is needed. Keeping up with the treatment plan minimizes delays in achieving that perfect smile.

7. The Role of Follow-Up Appointments in Treatment Success

Consistent follow-up appointments are the backbone of successful Invisalign Teen treatment. These sessions allow your orthodontist to monitor progress, make necessary adjustments, and ensure that the aligners fit correctly at every stage. It’s also an excellent opportunity for teens to ask questions and for parents to stay informed about their child’s progress. Emphasizing the importance of these appointments teaches teens the value of commitment to their dental health, laying the foundation for a lifetime of beautiful smiles.
