Notice To Patients About Scheduling:

Dr. Gholam Ali Miamee DDS is not accepting exam appointments, checkups or cleanings.

Dr. Gholam Ali Miamee DDS accepts only surgical procedures that require special attention due to some complications.

If the patient has a problem that may require Dr. Gholam Ali Miamee DDS then they must first have examination with our associate dentists.

After the associate dentist treatment plans a surgical procedure that requires special attention, the patient will then be offered an appointment with Dr. Gholam Ali Miamee DDS for consult and/or treatment.

Bad news is he can't do your checkup/cleaning anymore. Good news is he will be standing by if someone in your family needs a tough extraction or root canal one day.

Dr. Gholam Ali Miamee DDS (and all the dentists in our dental office) are only general dentists. You should always get second opinion or expert level care from specialist dentists such as endodontist, oral surgeon, periodontist, prosthodontist, orthodontist and/or pedodontist to get the highest level of care. Specialist dentists are far superior to general dentist in every way. They have amazing training that is much more advanced than a general dentist. Furthermore, they have experience that is light years ahead of any general dentist's experience with these complicated procedures. Thus, even though Dr. Gholam Ali Miamee DDS and other general dentists perform extractions, root canals and implants we can never hope to have the same level of expertise as a formally trained specialist dentist. Thus, we recommend Dr. Charles Fields Periodontist, Dr. Pedram Yahgmaie Oral Surgeon, Brian A. Mahler, DDS, Prosthodontist, Dr. Lan Tran Orthodontist, Dr. Alan Wonhee Lee, DDS, MS endodontist, etc.

Transform Your Smile with the Latest in Dental Crown Technology

Published August 14th, 2024 by RTC Dental

Enhance your smile with cutting-edge dental crown technology in our latest blog post.

Dental crowns have long been a solution for restoring smiles, but with the advent of new technologies, their effectiveness and accessibility have greatly improved. Let’s dive into how these advancements can make a significant difference in your dental care experience.

The Evolution of Dental Crowns: A Quick Overview

Historically, dental crowns have been a cornerstone in restorative dentistry. From their humble beginnings as simple, metal caps to the sophisticated solutions available today, dental crowns have undergone a remarkable transformation. This evolution mirrors the advancements in dental materials and technology, reflecting a commitment to improved patient outcomes and experiences.

In the early days, gold and other metals were the materials of choice for crown fabrication due to their durability. However, aesthetic concerns led to the development of porcelain and ceramic crowns, which offer a more natural-looking alternative. Over time, these materials have been refined to enhance their strength, appearance, and compatibility with the human body.

Breaking Down the Latest Advancements in Dental Crown Technology

The latest breakthroughs in dental crown technology are poised to transform patient experiences. From digital impressions and computer-aided design (CAD) to computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), these advancements not only shorten the time needed to create and fit a crown but also improve its fit and appearance. Digital scans eliminate the discomfort and inaccuracies of traditional impressions, offering a seamless process from start to finish.

Another exciting development is the use of more resilient materials, such as zirconia, that provide the strength of traditional metals while matching the natural color of teeth. This represents a leap forward in dental materials science, combining durability with aesthetics to offer the best of both worlds. Patients no longer have to choose between a crown that lasts and one that looks good.

How New Materials Are Making Crowns Better Than Ever

Material innovation is at the heart of the improvements in dental crowns. Zirconia and lithium disilicate, for example, are game-changers. These materials not only mimic the translucency and color of natural teeth but also possess exceptional strength and wear resistance. This means that crowns made from these materials can withstand the rigors of everyday use while looking indistinguishable from natural teeth.

Moreover, advancements in the way these materials are processed have led to better outcomes for patients. The introduction of CAD/CAM technology into the dental office means crowns can be designed, fabricated, and placed in a single visit. This not only saves time but also reduces the need for temporary solutions and multiple appointments.

The Benefits of Modern Dental Crowns: Beyond Aesthetics

While the aesthetic improvements of modern dental crowns are clear, the benefits don’t stop there. The precision of CAD/CAM technology ensures a fit that closely mimics the natural tooth, reducing the risk of decay and discomfort. Additionally, the speed of this technology can significantly reduce patient stress and inconvenience associated with traditional methods.

The materials used in modern dental crowns also contribute to improved oral health. With their biocompatibility, these materials reduce the risk of allergic reactions and inflammation, making the dental crown experience safer and more comfortable for everyone involved.

What to Expect During the Dental Crown Procedure with New Technology

The process of getting a dental crown has been greatly simplified with new technology. Initially, the dentist will conduct a thorough examination and prepare the tooth, which may involve some reshaping to ensure a proper fit for the crown. Instead of a physical impression, a digital scanner captures a precise 3D image of your tooth, which is then used to design your custom crown on a computer.

Thanks to the rapid processing capabilities of modern CAD/CAM tech, your crown can often be prepared while you wait. This means you could potentially leave with your new crown after just one appointment—a dramatic shift from the multiple visits required in the past. The new procedure is not only faster but also reduces the discomfort and inconvenience associated with traditional methods.

Comparing Costs: Traditional vs. Modern Dental Crown Solutions

When considering the cost of dental crowns, it’s important to factor in not only the initial price but also the long-term value. Traditional methods, while sometimes cheaper upfront, may incur additional costs through additional appointments and replacement crowns. Modern solutions, though possibly more expensive initially, tend to last longer and require fewer visits to maintain, potentially saving money and time in the long run.

Furthermore, the efficiency and convenience of modern dental crown technology can offer indirect savings. With procedures that can be completed in a single visit, patients save on travel and missed work, not to mention the potential reduction in discomfort and hassle.

Preparing for Your Dental Crown Appointment: Tips and Tricks

Preparing for a dental crown appointment can help ease the process and ensure the best possible outcome. Doing research, understanding the materials used, and discussing options with your dentist can demystify the experience and tailor it to your needs. It’s also useful to plan for a smooth recovery by arranging for rest after the procedure and avoiding hard or sticky foods that can damage the new crown.

Staying informed about the potential need for follow-up visits and how to care for your new crown can also contribute to a longer-lasting result. Regular dental check-ups and proper oral hygiene practices play a crucial role in maintaining the health and stability of your dental crown, ensuring that your smile remains beautiful and functional for years to come.

Why Keeping Up with Dental Crown Innovations Matters

Embracing the latest in dental crown technology offers more than just cosmetic benefits; it’s about improving the overall health and durability of your teeth while ensuring a comfortable process. As dental technology continues to evolve, keeping informed can help you make the best decisions for your oral health and smile.
