Dr. Gholam Ali Miamee DDS is not accepting exam appointments, checkups or cleanings.

Dr. Gholam Ali Miamee DDS accepts only surgical procedures that require special attention due to some complications.

If the patient has a problem that may require Dr. Gholam Ali Miamee DDS then they must first have examination with our associate dentists.

After the associate dentist treatment plans a surgical procedure that requires special attention, the patient will then be offered an appointment with Dr. Gholam Ali Miamee DDS for consult and/or treatment.

Bad news is he can't do your checkup/cleaning anymore. Good news is he will be standing by if someone in your family needs a tough extraction or root canal one day.

Dr. Gholam Ali Miamee DDS (and all the dentists in our dental office) are only general dentists. You should always get second opinion or expert level care from specialist dentists such as endodontist, oral surgeon, periodontist, prosthodontist, orthodontist and/or pedodontist to get the highest level of care. Specialist dentists are far superior to general dentist in every way. They have amazing training that is much more advanced than a general dentist. Furthermore, they have experience that is light years ahead of any general dentist's experience with these complicated procedures. Thus, even though Dr. Gholam Ali Miamee DDS and other general dentists perform extractions, root canals and implants we can never hope to have the same level of expertise as a formally trained specialist dentist. Thus, we recommend Dr. Charles Fields Periodontist, Dr. Pedram Yahgmaie Oral Surgeon, Dr. Gerard Marlin Prosthodontist, Dr. Lan Tran Orthodontist, Dr Alan Woohee Lee endodontist, etc.

The Ultimate Guide: 9 Pediatric Dental Health Milestones to Watch For, According to Reston Experts

As a parent, there’s no greater joy than seeing your child’s first smile—but do you know what comes next in their dental health journey? From that jubilant grin to the arrival of wisdom teeth, Reston’s pediatric dentistry experts share the nine vital milestones every parent should be on the lookout for.

1. The First Tooth: A Major Milestone in Baby’s Development

The eruption of the first tooth is more than just an adorable milestone; it’s the beginning of a lifelong journey in dental health. Around six months of age, you might notice your baby showing signs of discomfort as their first teeth start to break through the gums. This event presents the perfect opportunity to establish a dental care routine. Pediatric dentists in Reston advise using a soft, wet cloth to gently clean the baby’s gums even before the first tooth appears, paving the way for a healthy oral environment.

2. The First Dental Visit: Setting the Stage for Lifelong Health

Scheduling that first dental visit by your child’s first birthday might seem premature but think of it as laying the foundation for a lifetime of healthy smiles. This initial check-up is crucial for spotting any early signs of dental issues and getting accustomed to regular dental care. Pediatric dentists in Reston focus on making this experience as positive as possible, ensuring that children feel safe and comfortable in the dental chair and fostering a positive association with dental visits from the very start.

3. Learning to Brush: Building Healthy Habits Early

The art of brushing isn’t just about moving a toothbrush back and forth; it’s about instilling a sense of responsibility and routine in your child. Pediatric dentistry experts in Reston emphasize the importance of selecting an appropriate-sized toothbrush for children and demonstrating the correct technique. Encourage them to brush for two minutes, twice a day, turning the routine into a fun activity with songs or stories to make the time fly by.

4. Cavity Prevention: Tips from Pediatric Dentists in Reston

Cavities aren’t just a nuisance; they’re the most common infectious disease in children. However, they’re also entirely preventable. Pediatric dentists in Reston advise limiting sugary snacks and drinks, ensuring an adequate intake of water, and maintaining a robust oral hygiene routine. Regular dental check-ups allow for early detection and treatment of cavities, preventing more serious complications down the line.

5. Navigating Teething Issues: What Parents Need to Know

The teething process can be an ordeal for babies and parents alike, marked by sleepless nights and discomfort. Knowing what to expect and how to assist your child during this time can make a significant difference. Pediatric dentists in Reston recommend chilled teething rings, gentle gum massages, and the use of a clean, damp cloth to soothe your baby’s gums. It’s important to avoid teething remedies containing benzocaine or lidocaine, as they can pose health risks.

6. The Importance of Flossing: Starting Young

Flossing might seem like a challenge with young children, but it’s an invaluable part of oral hygiene that shouldn’t be overlooked. Pediatric dental specialists in Reston suggest introducing flossing as soon as two teeth start touching. Teaching your child to floss daily can prevent plaque buildup, protect against gum disease, and foster overall dental health. With patience and practice, flossing can become a seamless part of your child’s routine.

7. Dealing with Dental Anxiety: Strategies for Young Patients

Dental anxiety can be a significant barrier to seeking regular dental care. Pediatric dentists in Reston are equipped with techniques and methods to ease anxiety and fear in their young patients. They recommend discussing dental visits in a positive light, avoiding negative terms, and possibly scheduling a meet-and-greet with the dentist before the actual appointment. Many pediatric dental offices are designed with children’s comfort in mind, featuring a kid-friendly decor and a staff trained to work with children’s needs.

8. Braces Consultation: What to Expect When Orthodontic Needs Arise

The transition to braces is a significant milestone in dental development. Pediatric dentists in Reston often work closely with orthodontists to monitor a child’s growth patterns and identify any misalignments or bite issues early on. During a consultation, expect a thorough examination and discussions on the best corrective options and timelines. Embrace this step with your child, focusing on the benefits of a healthier, straighter smile.

9. Wisdom Teeth Watch: Preparing for Teenage Years

The emergence of wisdom teeth marks the last significant milestone in your child’s dental development, usually occurring in the late teenage years. Pediatric dentists in Reston stress the importance of regular check-ups to monitor the growth of these teeth and to determine if extraction is necessary. Keeping a close eye on your teen’s oral health can prevent potential issues such as impaction, infection, or crowding.

What our patients say

This was my first visit and I adored this dentist!!! Ultra-modern and hip. The doctors and the whole staff were friendly and made you feel very at ease. Each chair has a personal flat screen and a huge movie list. I watched the notebook while I got my teeth cleaned!!! They also do Zoom Whitening and I have already made my appt for it!

This is the NICEST and BEST dentist office I’ve ever been to. They were friendly, gentle and accomodating. I’ve been to dentists who were crabby and mean, ones who got irritated when you truthfully admitted to skipping a few flosses here and there. The people who helped me were amazing! I’m glad we found this place! Go now!! You will not be disappointed! They even have TV while you get something done.

Absolutely Fabulous! Not only did they do a great job with my cleaning, but they also had the daunting task of filling my 5-year old daughter’s cavities. Needless to say that she was not the most cooperative with them but they were always patient with her and, although it took 3 trips before she finally was able to go through with it (lol), their first priority was always making sure that she didn’t develop a stigma about dentists and remained comfortable. I will be calling you again in 6 months! Oh, and I love the fact that they have TVs to watch while getting work done!

Dr. Miamee and his crew were outstanding and they all were treating me in a most professional way. I will recommend them to all my family and friends.

The most contemporary office I’ve been to. It’s worth going just to see the technology there. Super friendly staff and great doctor. He is so caring I can not believe it. I highly recommend him for kids.
